rite of admission
RITE OF ADMISSION TO THE LAITY OF THE ORDER OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY
INTRODUCTION
1. The petition for admission to the Trinitarian Laity should be drawn up according to the model proposed in the Statutes.
2. The admission of brothers and sisters to the Laity is an event which is of interest to the local Church: the brothers, nuns, sisters, members of the Secular Institutes and those belonging to the various lay associations of the Order. Thus they should be fittingly notified in a timely manner of the celebration of the rite so that they might have the opportunity to attend, or at least that all the members of the Trinitarian Family might share the event through a communion in prayer.
3. It is the right of the Conventual Minister or the Spiritual Director of the Fraternity to preside at the Rite of Admission. In a Fraternity canonically established near a community of women, the local Sister Superior or the Sister who is advisor to the community can preside.
4. It is appropriate that the Rite of Admission should be held on a Sunday, or on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity or on one of the feasts proper to the Trinitarian Family.
5. The Rite of Admission should take place during a Celebration of the Word, or during Morning or Evening Prayer.
Note
The Rite of Admission, as presented here, is drafted for a celebration for several candidates. In cases in which the Rite is used to admit a single candidate, the texts should be fittingly adapted.
I. DURING A CELEBRATION OF THE WORD
INTRODUCTORY RITES
Greeting
6. The celebration begins with a hymn to the Most Holy Trinity.
7. Then the one presiding greets the assembly using these or similar words:
The mercy of the Father,
the grace and peace of Christ Jesus,
and the love of the Holy Spirit
be with you all.
R: And also with you.
Commentary
8. If it seems opportune, the one presiding gives a brief introduction to the candidates and the assembly.
Request for Admission and Acceptance
9. Then the one presiding speaks to the candidates in these or similar words:
Brothers and sisters,
what do you ask of us
and of the Trinitarian Family?
The candidates answer:
We humbly ask to be admitted
to experience life in the Trinitarian Laity.
10. The request for admission may also be stated in the following manner: the candidates – or one of them in the name of all – stand and address these or similar words to the one presiding:
Love for the Trinity
and the desire to commit ourselves
to brothers and sisters in need
have led us to you.
Thus, we humbly ask
to be admitted to experience
fellowship and life in the lay Trinitarian Fraternity,
to come to know
the history, life and spirituality
of the Trinitarian Order and Family
and to collaborate in carrying out
their mission in the Church.
11. The one presiding accepts the petition, using these or similar words:
May our Lord Jesus Christ
give you His grace
and assist you on your way,
and may He grant us His light
to accompany you in your study
and experience of the life
which you now begin among us.
R: Amen.
12. Then the one presiding says:
Let us pray.
After all pray in silence for a while, the one presiding continues:
Holy Trinity,
beginning and end of our pilgrimage on earth,
look kindly upon these, Your sons and daughters,
who wish to live their life in this world
according to the light of the Gospel, in the service of charity
and of redemption in the spirit of our Trinitarian Family.
Grant, we ask You,
that the Virgin Mary guide them on their way.
and that our holy father John
together with all the Saints of our family,
sustain them on their journey
that they may come to know Your will
and to do it with love as Your sons and daughters.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
R: Amen.
II. DURING A CELEBRATION OF THE WORD OF GOD
13. Then an appropriate text of the Holy Scripture from the Proper of the Order is read.
After the reading, the one presiding addresses a few words to the candidates and those present, explaining the significance of belonging to the Trinitarian laity, describing the Trinitarian charism and the importance of the communion among all the members of the Trinitarian Family.
This reflection on the Word, given its nature and circumstances permitting, can take the form of a fraternal dialogue moderated by the one presiding.
Prayer of the Faithful
Then follows the General Intercessions or Prayer of the Faithful. The formulary can be prepared according to the model text presented here, either by freely taking from it the more appropriate intentions, or using others duly prepared:
United in prayer, let us call upon the Holy Trinity
to bless these, our brothers and sisters,
and strengthen them in their resolve.
R: Hear us, O Holy Trinity.
For the holy Church of God,
that adorned with the light of virtue of her sons and daughters,
she might always shine radiantly before Christ, her Bridegroom,
we pray: R:
For the well-being of all people,
that all who dedicate themselves to the service of God
ceaselessly seeking the values of the Kingdom
may work for the good of their brothers and sisters,
we pray: R:
For the laity of the Church,
that aware of their prophetic, royal and priestly dignity,
they may bear witness each day
to Christ and His Gospel
in their family, professional and social life,
we pray: R:
For our brothers and sisters, NN.
who begin to experience life in the lay fraternity today
that, sharing the ideals of the Trinitarian Family,
they might live out more intensely their baptismal commitment,
we pray: R:
Other intentions may be added
Our Father…
Bestowal of the Trisagion
14. Then the one presiding entrusts the Trisagion Chaplet to each candidate, saying:
Receive, beloved brother/sister
the Chaplet of the Holy Trisagion.
Live our Trinitarian spirituality with zeal
and be a witness and servant of the Trinity in the world.
The candidate answers:
R: Amen.
15. The one presiding concludes the Prayer of the Faithful, saying:
Holy Trinity, look with kindness
upon these, our brothers and sisters
who, by a gift of Your Spirit,
begin today to experience life in our family.
Grant that,
in imitation of the Virgin, Your humble handmaid,
they may live a life of praise to You
and service to their brothers and sisters,
following in the footsteps of our holy father John
and our saints.
May they be gentle, humble and compassionate,
coming to form with us one heart and one soul,
and offering to You, Holy Trinity,
the acceptable worship of a life according to the Gospel.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
R: Amen.
DISMISSAL
16. After the prayer comes the dismissal. Circumstances permitting, the one presiding directs the following – or a similar – admonition to those who have been admitted to the experience of our life:
Brothers and sisters,
the ritual by which you have been admitted
to experience life in the Trinitarian Laity,
marks the beginning of a new journey.
Set out on it with humility and perseverance,
trusting in the mercy of God
and in the help of the Most Holy Virgin
and of all our saints.

If the one presiding is a priest or deacon, he says:
The Lord be with you.
R: And also with you.
The one presiding:
In His Son, God has redeemed men and women
and has given them the gift of His Holy Spirit.
May He grant that you carry out your efforts in the world

17. The one presiding dismisses the assembly, saying:
Go in the peace of the Lord
and live in the light of the Gospel of Christ.
R: Thanks be to God.
18. The ritual concludes with a hymn to the Trinity.
19. The admission of brothers and sisters will be duly inscribed in the Register of the fraternity.
20. After the prayer, there should be time for socializing, congratulations and fellowship.

30. The celebration of the liturgical Hour continues with the appropriate Gospel Canticle – that of Zechariah at Morning Prayer, and that of Mary at Evening Prayer – with their antiphon, taken from the Office of the day.
INVOCATIONS OR INTERCESSIONS
31. After the Gospel Canticle, at Morning Prayer the invocations are prayer – at Evening Prayer, the intercessions.
